After declaration of lockdown 1.0 under COVID-19 in India, in view of its seriousness, severity & impact on community our Director Shriom Ji decided to intervene in pandemic in collaboration with partners and Government. He said “It is prime responsibility of Social Organisations to come forward and support people in critical situation”. He updated himself about information’s related to symptoms, precautions, lockdown guidelines and ground level reality from different sources. He found people are in stress and trying to leave for their native places, many people have negligence of ration & cash.
Although Delhi Government is trying to fulfil the needs of people, but due to high number families, it was not possible for them to reach each family, so situation was very critical in first week of April 2020. So Shriom Ji took initiative and consulted the situation with staff and partner to support affected people by serving food, ration and spreading awareness over the phone on COVID precautions, hygiene practices, distribution of ready food, distribution of Dry Ration, hygiene kits and milk for children. He also consulted with local administration and asked for issue Pass for moving in field. MRYDO formulated certain guidelines and rules for response under the light of lockdown rules.
Shriom Ji started initiative within his own capacity and distributed of Breakfast and milk to 154 people at Government Relief Centres at Mitraoun & Jafarpur Village in South West District of Delhi. It is running from April 5th to today when I am writing this report. He also asked to all project staff for making calls to families under all projects regarding awareness and linking with Government assistance portals.
In the middle of this initiation, he also mobilise resources and submit the request to partner organisation “Save the Children”. To understanding the motto of Nobel cause 100 Hygiene kits provided by Save the Children that distributed among the families in close coordination of local administration among the neediest families from Najafgarh area.
In continuation of COVID response 165 Dry Ration Kits (Wheat Flour -10kg, Rice -25kg, Edible oil-2 liter, Dal-10kg, Poatato-10kg, Onion-5kg), distributed among child centric families who had covered under #The Invisible Project. 400 Dry Ration kits (10kg Wheat Flour Packets or Rice-10kg Packs) also distribution with the support of other NGOs under TI-FSW Project. 855 Dry Ration and Hyegiene kits distributed in North East District and 387 dry kits 80 Hygiene kits We should keep in view that distributions of above Dry Ration Kits have been completed among Commercial Sex Workers.
So it was a wonderful experience in humanitarian response under COVID-19, although MRYDO have responded in Delhi Rights in North East District in Feb & March 2020 with support of our esteem partner “Save the Children”
